Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara will play for the Aston Villa Under-21s next week, according to Unai Emery, before they return to first-team action following the international break.
Following their individual ACL injuries, both players resumed full training on a daily basis last week. More than 13 months ago, during the first half of the team’s 2023–24 season opener against Newcastle United, Mings sustained a catastrophic injury.
In February, Kamara suffered a knee ligament injury during Villa’s 2-1 loss to Manchester United. Before his injury setback, he had started all 20 of the Premier League games for which he was available.
“They are training very well,” Emery stated during the press conference on the pair. “They began training with us last week at a hundred percent.”
On Saturday, October 5, Villa’s Under-21 team will play in the Premier League 2 at Newcastle United. On Tuesday, October 8, the team will play in the EFL Trophy against Bolton.
Villa will try to build on their successful start to the season on Sunday at 2 p.m. when they play Ipswich Town at Portman Road. In addition to their first Champions League league phase matchup against BSC Young Boys and their Carabao Cup third round matchup at Wycombe Wanderers, Villa has won four of their first five Premier League games.
Ipswich, the opposition, has lost all five of their Premier League games this year. Their most recent losing start to a premier league season was in 1982–1983 (first six games).
