Daniel Farke believes Leeds United “desperately” need Patrick Bamford this season after their draw against Norwich City.
The striker recently returned from a long-term injury and got some rare minutes at Carrow Road during the 1-1 draw on 1 October.
Leeds currently sit fourth in the Championship thanks to that point, which has left them three points behind the league leaders, Sunderland.
Speaking to Adam Pope after the game (1 October), Farke shared his verdict on the importance of the former Middlesbrough man this season.
“We need all the players available at the moment. Good to give Patrick (Bamford) his first minutes for a while. Desperately need him now. I left them on longer than I planned,” he said.
Leeds United need help after recent injuries
Farke’s men have had a decent season so far as they find themselves well into the playoff places.
The Whites have had their fair share of tough fixtures with games such as Burnley and West Brom being thrown into the mix.
Bamford is one of the West Yorkshire outfit’s longest-standing players and has helped lead the Whites’ line for as long as many can remember but injuries have hindered his recent campaigns.
Leeds were one of the favourites for the Championship title this term and although the club are well in the mix, it feels like they could be doing better.
The recent injuries to Ethan Ampadu and Ilia Gruev will have no doubt hurt the club but they have more than enough talent to fill the voids left by the pair [Beren Cross, 1 October].
While the striker has only just returned, his addition to the squad will no doubt boost the club’s morale and perhaps lighten the load from the shoulders of Mateo Joseph after a couple of below-par performances.
