Television cameras saw Peter Schmeichel’s response as his son Kasper gave up seven goals and Celtic lost badly to Borussia Dortmund.
The Champions League match began quickly for the Bundesliga team, with Emre Can, a former Liverpool player, starting the massacre from the penalty spot after Schmeichel had taken down Jamie Gittens.
After falling behind, Celtic quickly replied, and a few minutes later, Daizen Maeda equalized from close range.
Nevertheless, the respite was only temporary, as Dortmund’s lead was reestablished by Karim Adeyemi after three goals in a span of four minutes.
After then, Brendan Rodgers’ team’s night would only get worse as Adeyemi finished his first-half hat-trick and Dortmund added another goal just before halftime through Serhou Guirassy’s penalty kick.
After the break, Dortmund kept up their offensive pressure, and Guirassy added another goal after an hour. Felix Nmecha then sealed the victory in the last minutes.
Peter Schmeichel was seen from the gantry looking irritated as he watched after Nmecha made it seven for the hosts.
Even though the score was unfavorable for the Scottish champions, Schmeichel produced a number of saves during the contest to keep his team from losing even more badly.
The elder Schmeichel discussed his thoughts for the Celtic goalie throughout the game in a post-game speech.
“It is really challenging.” According to Peter on CBS Sports.
“Because you are always trying to give your kids the best.” Whatever circumstances they find themselves in is irrelevant, and today was undoubtedly just one of those days that will never really make sense.
Seven of the numerous attempts on goal found their way into the net. A tiny bit more may have been present. It was just one of those days when they couldn’t get close enough to close that down, as Callum McGregor had told me before.

“This was a bad bad day at the office and take it as nothing more,” I told Kasper as he was leaving the game. Proceed, take the lead in the locker room, and assist everyone in getting over this.”
The 37-year-old left Leicester after an incredible 11-year run in 2022, and he had successful spells at Nice and Anderlecht before joining Celtic Park on a one-year contract this summer.
