La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid has their sights set on another talented young player, following in the footsteps of Jude Bellingham, Endrick, and Adra Guler. If reports are accurate, Jhon Duran of Aston Villa is being watched intently by Carlo Ancelotti’s Los Blancos, who have a strong desire to recruit him in January.
Announcing Jhon Duran, Weapon X of Unai
Recently, Jhon Duran made headlines when he scored the game-winning goal for Aston Villa in the Champions League against Bayern Munich. The 20-year-old Colombian forward has six goals this season, and his current contract would keep him at Villa Park until 2028. Surprisingly, out of his nine outings, the attacker only made one start.
In January 2023, Duran completed his transfer from MLS team Chicago Fire to Aston Villa. His career in football started with Envigado, a Colombian team. Before arriving in England, Duran made 28 appearances for Fire and scored eight goals.
Duran has left Real Madrid’s recruitment team quite impressed, according to a report from Football Insider. The article also stated that they will probably closely monitor his development under Unai Emery in the run-up to the January transfer window.
The addition of French sensation Kylian Mbappe from PSG has further bolstered Real Madrid’s attacking unit, who now sit second in the Spanish premier division. Brahim Diaz and Turkish wonderboy Guler provide support for Brazilian trio Endrick, Rodrygo Goes, and Vinicius Jr. Jude Bellingham plays from the center of the pitch.
Aston Villa, with four victories and one loss in their Premier League match, is currently ranked fifth after shocking Bayern Munich in their most recent UCL match. Unai Emery came on as a second-half substitute for Duran, and the 79th-minute goal he scored lived up to the manager’s expectations.
