Simone Biles, a gymnast for the USA, is motivated to keep encouraging people, especially those who are struggling with mental health issues. A recent study claims that Biles’ candor about her battles with mental health has inspired more women to address the problem head-on.
“In a recent survey of 1,000 women by [Female Quotient], 63% said they felt more inspired to prioritize their mental health after Simone Biles openly discussed taking time off for her well-being,” according to an article by the Child Mind Institute. “Additionally, 61% reported feeling more comfortable being transparent about their struggles.”
After reading the message, Biles expressed her happiness at the difference she has made. She pledged to keep advocating for mental health even though she knows the effort to encourage more people to address the issue is far from done and that the trip is far from over.
Together, on this adventure,” After posting the Child Mind Institute post, Biles posted a message on her Instagram Stories.
Since she had mental health issues in the past few years, Simone Biles has been a vocal supporter of mental health. As her supporters are aware, the eleven-time Olympian and gold medallist spurred a global dialogue on mental health after she withdrew from the Tokyo Games due to the problem. The renowned gymnast had a twisty situation, which the Cleveland Clinic defined as “a mental block that creates a dangerous disconnect between mind and body while gymnasts are airborne.” Then, Biles withdrew from the Tokyo Olympics, stating that she needed to put her mental health first.
Biles has been a proponent of maintaining one’s mental health ever since. She even gave it credit for her performance at the 2024 Olympics, telling CNBC that “being in a good mental spot” has helped her get to where she is. As it turns out, Biles has had a significant positive influence on people’s ability to cope with mental health issues.
