In recent years, jersey swaps have been regular following NFL games.
Usually, they occur between opponents.
But after Cooper DeJean’s debut game as the Eagles’ starting nickel cornerback, a 20-16 victory over the Browns, fellow rookie Quinyon Mitchell made a proposition.
“It was our first time out there together,” Mitchell said, looking down at the No. 33 jersey neatly folded in his locker cubicle at the Linc. “So I just felt like we should swap jerseys.”
Both Mitchell and DeJean stated that they intend to frame and proudly exhibit each other’s shirts.
Mitchell and DeJean have grown close in recent months, after being picked by the Eagles in the first and second rounds in April.
While Mitchell began the season as the starting outside cornerback, DeJean took a little longer to get on the field. The Iowa second-round pick missed three weeks of training camp due to a hamstring ailment, causing him to fall behind.
However, after a couple difficult games from veteran Avonte Maddox to begin the season, the Eagles chose to hand over the job to DeJean following their early Week 5 bye.
