In the 2026 college football recruiting class, the Ohio State Buckeyes have been making an effort to acquire a new great quarterback. Unfortunately, it appears that things are going south for the nation’s top-ranked quarterback.

Will Howard’s entry into the NFL draft means that the Buckeyes will have competition at quarterback next season. Julian Sayin, a former 5-star signal-caller, is the early favorite to be Ohio State’s next quarterback.

Tavien St. Clair, a 5-star freshman, will be among the many opponents the Buckeyes quarterback will have to contend with in the upcoming months.

When it comes to a 2026 recruitment target, Ohio State received some unfavorable news.

Nashville Jared Curtis of Christian has reduced his list to two collegiate football programs; the Buckeyes were left off. Hayes Fawcett of On3.com said on Saturday that Curtis is currently just thinking about the Georgia Bulldogs and Oregon Ducks.

Nashville Christian University football coach Jared Curtis has down his list to two programs; the Buckeyes were not included. On3.com’s Hayes Fawcett stated on Saturday that Curtis is only considering the Oregon Ducks and Georgia Bulldogs at the moment.

Showing them that love and watching them go out there and win it all is amazing! On January 20, Curtis told Steve Wiltfong of On3. “I believe they demonstrated their abilities this year, and I believe they will only get better.”

For whoever selects the top-ranked quarterback in the 2026 class, Curtis’ current NIL value, according to On3, is $3 million.
