Knights CEO Philip Gardner has denied attempting to expedite Dylan Brown’s transfer to Newcastle, despite claims that it would be better for everyone if Parramatta “moved on” their mysterious playmaker.
Since agreeing to a 10-year contract with Newcastle that begins next year, Brown has come under fire, particularly for his lackluster play in defeats to Canterbury and Wests Tigers.
After failing to score against Canterbury and being jeered by Parramatta supporters prior to the Tigers’ 32–6 thumping, Eels legend Nathan Hindmarsh suggested the team could be smart to let go of its Kiwi international as soon as possible.
Is it preferable to simply let him go?” This week, Hindmarsh stated on The Bye Round podcast.
Now I’m at the stage where it makes sense. Yes, it makes sense. He isn’t contributing much to the Eels.
I had never before been in that situation. I have never experienced such pressure before. He needs to plan the entire s— show that is currently going on. I’m interested in seeing more from him.
Dylan Walker, a former Warriors utility who joined the Eels this week, appears to be a ready-made substitute. Gardner stated that the Knights cannot accommodate Brown in 2024, regardless of whether Parra would think about giving him an early release.
Gardner informed this masthead that the club “clearly does not have the salary cap space to facilitate a transfer for Dylan Brown this year.
