According to 247Sports, Tennessee is one of the programs “in the mix” for Fresno State cornerback Julian Neal.

Neal, a former three-star recruit from San Francisco, spent the first three seasons of his career at Fresno State before transferring to Stanford this past offseason.

The California native, however, asked to be released from his financial aid agreement after Stanford recently fired head coach Troy Taylor.

Neal totaled 35 tackles, five passes defensed, one sack, and two interceptions at Fresno State in 2024.

Syracuse, Virginia, Colorado, Minnesota, Arkansas, Auburn, and Purdue are also in the mix for Neal according to 247Sports.

The Volunteers are in need of cornerback depth due to an ACL injury that starter Jermod McCoy suffered earlier this offseason.

McCoy is expected to miss a large chunk of the 2025 season. Tennessee is hopeful that McCoy can return to the field at some point in 2025, but it’s too early to forecast a timeline for his potential return. There’s also a chance that McCoy could miss the entire season, depending on how his recovery goes.
