Jarin Stevenson, a 6-foot-11, 215-pound forward, has been a steady contributor for the Alabama Crimson Tide over the past couple of seasons.

During his freshman campaign, Stevenson helped Alabama reach their first-ever Final Four and then this past year, the Elite Eight.

After initially entering the NCAA transfer portal on April 3, Stevenson officially committed to return home and suit up for North Carolina on April 13.

The Chapel Hill native closed his two-year stint at Alabama with an emotional tribute thanking his teammates, coaches and fans.

Stevenson made the official post on his Instagram story on Friday.

“To all my Alabama teammates, coaches, staff, and fans,” Stevenson said. “It’s been a ride. Thank you for all the love and support.”

Stevenson originally committed to Alabama as a four-star prospect, ranked as the No. 11 power forward and No. 50 overall player in the nation, per 247Sports.

In the 2023-24 season, Stevenson played in all 37 games, starting in five, averaging 5.3 points and 2.7 rebounds per game.

As a sophomore, Stevenson saw his role grow, starting 22-of-37 outings, upping his averages to 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.

Before committing to Alabama, Stevenson starred at Seaforth High School in Pittsboro, North Carolina, where he was a four-star recruit.

Stevenson now returns to his roots by committing to play for North Carolina, where his mother starred and where he grew up a Tar Heels fan.

Now playing at UNC, Stevenson will look to provide some much-needed NCAA Tournament experience and build on a journey that began just a few miles down the road.
