The Battle of Ontario between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators is back, and so is the trash talk.

Ahead of the Senators’ first-round playoff matchup against the Maple Leafs, Ottawa singer-songwriter Kyle Ivan dropped a parody diss track aimed at Toronto.

Set to Blur’s “Song 2,” the short video featured Ivan and his full band wearing Senators jerseys outside Canadian Tire Centre, delivering “Leafs Suck” and other lyrical jabs at Toronto’s team in anticipation of Sunday’s Game 1.

Ivan, however, might have just cursed the team in the process as the Senators dropped a no-contest affair on Sunday, losing 6-2 to the Maple Leafs in the first game of the series.

Ivan’s video blew up after Spittin’ Chiclets host Ryan Whitney posted the clip on X with the caption, “This might make me root for the Leafs.”

Whitney’s post sent the song viral within hours, with fan reactions ranging from ridicule to reluctant respect.

Ivan, who has been active in Ottawa’s local music scene, hasn’t commented publicly since the track took off.

Here’s how a few fans reacted to Whitney’s post showcasing Ivan’s song.

“Allowing bullying in schools would’ve prevented this”
