Official Club Announcement
The Parramatta Eels have officially confirmed the signing of Cory Paix from the Brisbane Broncos, marking a major step in the club’s ongoing rebuild and push to strengthen its spine ahead of the new NRL season.
The 25-year-old hooker, known for his defensive grit, quick service out of dummy-half, and leadership qualities, has agreed to a multi-year deal that will see him wear the Blue and Gold from 2026 onwards.

A Signing with Purpose
Following months of internal review and squad assessment, Parramatta identified a need for greater spine depth and experience at hooker—a position that has been under scrutiny since their 2022 Grand Final run.
Head Coach Jason Ryles praised the acquisition, describing Paix as “a competitor who fits perfectly into the kind of culture and direction we’re building at the Eels.”
“Cory brings the toughness and control that every strong side needs around the ruck. His ability to guide play and keep the defensive line organized will be a huge asset for us,” Ryles said.
Paix Ready for the Challenge
Paix, who debuted for the Broncos in 2020, has developed a reputation as one of the NRL’s most reliable young hookers. Speaking after his move, he expressed excitement about joining one of the league’s most passionate clubs.
“I’m thrilled to be part of the Eels family. Parramatta is a proud club with massive support, and I’m ready to give everything to help bring success back to the fans,” Paix said.
Strategic Boost for Parramatta
This signing signals intent from Parramatta’s management to address long-standing weaknesses in their spine combination. With Cory Paix joining forces with Dylan Brown, Mitchell Moses, and Clint Gutherson, the Eels now possess a balanced and experienced playmaking unit heading into the next campaign.
Eels General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill added:
“This is a big signing for our club. Cory’s professionalism, work ethic, and hunger to improve will have an immediate impact on our squad depth and culture.”
Looking Ahead
The Eels will now shift focus to pre-season preparations, with Cory Paix expected to report to training early in the off-season. His arrival provides a fresh wave of optimism for fans hoping to see Parramatta return to finals contention.
