A social-media rumor claiming that Manchester City and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma has filed for divorce from his long-time partner, Alessia Elefante, has begun circulating online.
The posts make unverified claims about problems in the couple’s relationship and suggest that Donnarumma may have addressed the situation on social media. However, there is currently no credible evidence confirming that Donnarumma has filed for divorce or made the alleged statement about infidelity.
In fact, recent reports indicate the opposite. Donnarumma and Elefante celebrated their wedding in Locorotondo, Italy, in July 2026, with family, friends and football stars in attendance.
The couple have been together since 2016 and welcomed their first child, Leo, in September 2024. Donnarumma had previously proposed to Elefante in Paris, and in May 2026 the couple publicly announced their marriage with the football-inspired message, “Long-term contract signed.”
As the divorce story continues to attract attention online, fans should be cautious about treating unverified social-media posts as fact. Until Donnarumma or Elefante—or a reputable news organization—confirms any separation, the claims should be regarded as unsubstantiated rumors.
