Rangers FC supporters have been given fresh reason for optimism as the club continues its plans to improve and modernise the iconic Ibrox Stadium ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
Reports circulating online have claimed that Rangers have approved a major $76.6 million stadium renovation project, with the proposed investment reportedly aimed at transforming several areas of the historic Glasgow venue.
However, the specific $76.6 million figure has not been independently confirmed by ESPN or Rangers FC. What is confirmed is that renovation and improvement work is taking place at Ibrox. Rangers have announced work on the playing surface, while other upgrades include the replacement of balustrades in the Copland Rear Stand with a glass design to improve supporters’ views.
The club has also previously undertaken a wider feasibility study examining possible improvements to Ibrox and the overall matchday experience, including potential expansion options.
If a larger redevelopment package is eventually approved, supporters could potentially see significant improvements to hospitality areas, accessibility, seating, technology, supporter facilities and other parts of the stadium.
For Rangers fans, the biggest question is therefore not whether improvements are happening—they are—but how extensive the next phase of the Ibrox redevelopment will be and how much it will ultimately cost.
The project could represent another major step in Rangers’ ambition to modernise one of Scottish football’s most famous stadiums while preserving the character and history that make Ibrox special.
