A major claim circulating online has caught the attention of Rangers supporters, alleging that Rangers FC has officially approved a massive $76.6 million stadium renovation project for 2026.

The reported project is said to involve a major transformation of Ibrox Stadium, potentially improving facilities, supporter areas, hospitality spaces and other parts of the historic Glasgow venue.

However, there is an important point supporters should know: there is currently no credible ESPN report confirming that Rangers have approved a $76.6 million renovation project. Searches for the claim did not produce an ESPN report supporting the figure.

What is confirmed is that Rangers have been examining ways to improve Ibrox. The club began a feasibility study looking at the future development of the stadium and wider Ibrox campus.

Rangers have also undertaken refurbishment work during 2026, including improvements to areas such as the Copland Rear Stand, Members Lounge and trophy room, alongside heritage-related work around the stadium.

Ibrox remains one of Scottish football’s most iconic stadiums, with a capacity of around 51,700.

🔵 THE BOTTOM LINE: The idea of continued investment and improvement at Ibrox is genuine, but the specific $76.6 million figure and claim that ESPN confirmed its approval have not been independently verified.

Rangers supporters should therefore be cautious about sharing the headline as confirmed news until the club or a reputable news organisation officially announces the details.
