Paris Saint-Germain head coach Luis Enrique has reacted to his side’s dramatic 2-2 draw against Rennes in the opening round of the 2026/27 Ligue 1 season.

PSG endured a difficult first half at Roazhon Park, falling 2-0 behind after Rennes took advantage of their opportunities. Enrique admitted that his team struggled to control the game, particularly Rennes’ counter-attacks, which produced two well-taken goals.

The Spanish coach responded at halftime with major changes, bringing on Ferran Torres and Mika Godts. The substitutions transformed the match, with Torres scoring twice in the second half to rescue a point for the defending champions.

Enrique praised the players who came off the bench and highlighted their impact on the comeback. He also stressed that PSG must continue to improve and cannot become comfortable simply because of their previous achievements.

Ferran Torres emerged as the major talking point after his impressive debut, scoring in the 71st and 83rd minutes, with both goals assisted by Fabián Ruiz.

Despite rescuing a point, the result will leave Enrique aware that PSG have work to do if they want to maintain their domestic dominance. The coach’s message was clear: previous trophies count for nothing once a new season begins, and every player must continue fighting for his place.
