Leeds United’s roster is strong in the goalkeeping department. The Whites feature Illan Meslier, Karl Darlow, and Kristoffer Klaesson, three senior shot stoppers, on their roster.

Meslier has proven to be United’s unchallenged top player. He started the team’s 150th league game on Friday in the devastating 4-0 loss to Queens Park Rangers.

When the transfer window reopens in the summer, will United need a new goalkeeper? The West Yorkshire team has been heavily linked to a transfer for Viktor Johansson, a top player for Rotherham United.

Johansson, who is recognized as one of the top goalkeepers outside of the Premier League, is anticipated to go from the Millers after the team was demoted to League One. It has also been reported that Stoke City is interested in the player.

With a release provision in his contract, the Swedish international can be acquired for a reduced transfer fee, estimated to be around £750,000. The 25-year-old was not included in United’s lineup for last weekend’s 2-0 loss against Bristol City.

Steve Evans, the former manager of United, acknowledged that Johansson had attracted “huge interest” upon his recent return to Rotherham. Evans told the Rotherham Advertiser, “The chances are that Viktor will leave in the summer because of the huge interest in him.” “It will most likely be a pivotal moment in the child’s life.”

When relegation was confirmed, Johansson was questioned about his future. “I haven’t really thought about the summer,” he stated. Here, I’m still totally concentrated. We want to at least find something worthwhile to close out the season with because we haven’t done well enough. You must keep your thoughts focused to avoid disappointing both your team and yourself. That’s not how I want to be.”
