Throughout the Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds period, Wrexham has added some accomplished players, but the team doesn’t contain many internationals.
That’s not a jab at the team; not many National League, League Two, or League One teams have a large number of players leaving for international participation.
While playing for Wrexham, James McClean made appearances for Ireland; however, he left the international stage in October.
Since moving to Wrexham, Jacob Mendy has established himself in the Gambia team, and he acknowledges that his transfer turned that aspiration into a reality.
The team’s experience on the international scene is limited to Steven Fletcher’s prior Scotland caps.
Though Max Cleworth’s father has previously stated that the defender is unable to play for Wales, Thomas O’Connor may eventually come into play for Ireland.
Paul Mullin regarding Wales
Next up is Paul Mullin.
Rob Page, the manager of Wales, put the Liverpudlian on standby in October despite his qualification to play for his country.
After joining Wrexham in 2021, Mullin has been a goal machine, amassing 105 goals in 140 games for the team.
Mullin has scored so many goals that he most definitely deserves a chance, but the transition from League Two football to the international game is a significant one.
In an interview with The Guardian, Mullin now acknowledges that he would “love” to play for Wales in the future.
Mullin mentioned that he would really like to represent Wales, considering his grandma was born there.
The Wrexham goal machine went on to say that despite his desire to play at the best level possible, he never considers quitting the team.
Mullin, who was formerly with Cambridge United, has found that moving closer to home has been essential, and he appears to be genuinely pleased at the STōK Cae Ras.
Mullin declared, “I obviously want to play at the best level possible.” “My grandmother was born in Wales, and I would love to play for them. But I never give it any thought as to whether or not to leave the club. I am so in love with Wrexham that I signed a new contract with them in January. The primary reason he signed in the first place was to see Albi every day when he got home,” he continued.
