Aston Villa F.C. have reportedly completed a sensational loan agreement with Manchester City F.C. for rising goalkeeper star
James Trafford in what is already being described as one of the biggest temporary transfers of the summer window. The young English goalkeeper, who enjoyed a remarkable breakthrough season and earned praise across Europe for his outstanding performances, is now set to continue his development under Villa manager Unai Emery.
According to reports, the agreement does not include any option to buy, showing Manchester City’s strong belief that Trafford remains a huge part of their future plans despite allowing him to leave temporarily.
The deal is believed to have progressed rapidly after Aston Villa intensified talks earlier this week. Emery reportedly identified Trafford as a priority signing as Villa prepare for another demanding season involving domestic competition and European football.
Sources close to the negotiations suggest Trafford was attracted by the opportunity to become a regular starter and work under one of Europe’s most respected coaches. The goalkeeper is also said to be excited by Aston Villa’s ambitious long-term project.
However, despite Villa’s excitement over securing the highly-rated star, Manchester City are believed to have inserted strict conditions into the agreement to closely monitor the player’s development throughout the season.
